GameDay Game #6: Pens v. Sabres

The Penguins get no breaks from the NHL schedule makers as the rejuvenated Buffalo Sabres come to town for a Saturday night matchup inside the CONSOL Energy Center. The Sabres are coming off of a 4-3 loss Friday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Penguins are coming off of a 3-2 overtime loss to the Capitals Thursday night. 


The Sabres are 2-1-0 on the season and sit in 6th place in the Eastern Conference.


The Penguins have swept the 2010-11 regular season and have won 6 straight against the Sabres dating back to February 1, 2010.

POFA's Game Notes

Last Meeting: March 8, 2011 - The Penguins skated to a 3-1 victory at the CONSOL Energy as a result of three straight goals by James Neal, Zbynek Michalek, and Mark Letestu. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 29 of 30 Buffalo shots.

Tomas Vanek has three goals in Bufflo's first three games. James Neal leads all NHL players in goals scored with four and some Pens fans still hate him. 

Sidney Crosby and Brooks Orpik will not play. Evgeni Malkin will also miss his third game of the season with soreness in his knee.  

Buffalo Forward Johan Hecht has yet to play this season because of a concussion. 

The Penguins are averaging three goals per game, and 10 different players have scored.

The Penguins penalty killing unit is ranked fourth in in the league (94.1%) allowing only one power play goal in five games. Buffalo's power play is ranked 10th in the league (21.4%). 

Buffalo's penalty killing unit is ranked 18th in the league (84.6%). Pittsburgh's power play is ranked 8th in the league and is clicking at 24%.
